Success Story

IWK HALIFAX

Medical Centre
Moncton N.B.
43,000 sq/ft
A 36% REDUCTION
IN ANNUAL ENERGY COSTS

The Challenge

Prior to PMC’s involvement, this building located at 2760 Joseph Howe Drive consumed over 1.3 million kWh of electricity annually, resulting in over $164,000 of annual energy expenditure. It is a three-story building with a total square footage of approximately 43,000 sq.ft. The building’s HVAC system consists of three rooftop units (RTU’s) that serve a variable airflow distribution system. The building’s primary source of heat is electric and consists of electric duct heaters with baseboard heaters serving the perimeters.

The Solution

We conducted a detailed energy audit and determined that through the implementation of targeted retrofits, a 36.1% reduction in annual energy cost could be attained with several

Energy Conservation Measures (ECM’s) that were implemented beginning in 2019.
