The Challenge

Built in 2011, this state of the art law courts is a mixed-use building with holding cells, courtrooms, administrative offices and meeting rooms consisting of five floors, totalling 135,000 sq.ft. The existing HVAC system consists of air handlers, return and exhaust fans, multiple pumps, boilers, chillers and unit heaters. Prior to engaging PMC, Moncton Law Courts’ energy consumption was over 1.7 million kWh of electricity and 4,700 GJ of natural gas annually, resulting in over $278,000 in annual energy expenditure.

The Solution

Through the implementation of targeted recommissioning, sequence changes and several other Energy Conservation Measures (ECM’s) were implemented, a 25% reduction in annual energy cost was attained with no upfront capital cost requirements on behalf of the Moncton Law Courts.
