YMCA Fredericton

Multi-use Recreation
Moncton N.B.
58,000 sq/ft
A 43% REDUCTION
IN ANNUAL ENERGY CONSUMPTION WITH NO UPFRONT CAPITAL

The Challenge

The Fredericton YMCA is a multi-use recreational facility with a total square footage of 58,000 sq.ft. The building’s HVAC system includes multiple water source heat pumps, a cooling tower, an electric boiler, and a fresh air and washroom exhaust system. Prior to engagement with PMC, the YMCA consumed over 1.2 million kWh of electricity and 8,508 GJ of natural gas annually, resulting in over $270,000 in annual energy expenditure.

The Solution

We conducted a detailed energy audit, and determined that through the implementation of targeted retrofits, a 43% reduction in total building energy consumption could be attained with no upfront capital cost requirements on behalf of the YMCA.
